The 457 unorganized townships in Maine are assessed and mapped by the Maine Revenue Service - Property Tax Division. They have GIS and digital parcel data for the unorganized townships.

Comments:
Recent bond monies have funded high resolution color orthoimagery for all of the organized townships in Maine. These were flown in 2003 to 2005.

The percentage of parcels in GIS is very difficult to estimate. Assessing in organized townships and plantations is done at the municipal level, in small towns usually by the Selectmen.

Exists: Yes    
Comments: Recent bond money has been used for grants to pay for conversion to state standards or new automation of municipal data. The program is modest in that only about 100 townships out of 465 are under collection to date. The Maine Office of GIS manages the data although funding for this specific task is problematic.
